Hampshire Against Fluoridation delivers Open Letter to South Central's Board, Friday, 26 February 2010 |

Four representatives of NPWA’s Executive Committee joined Hampshire Against Fluoridation's demonstration at South Central Strategic Health Authority's offices in Newbury to present the Authority with the Open Letter below. The letter was backed by more than 170 signatories including Members of the House of Lords, MPs of all parties, councillors, scientists and dental and other professionals and these are listed below the Open Letter. HAF member Anna Peckham had previously written to the Chairman of the 12-strong SHA Board but was told he would be unavailable to receive the document. It had to be left with a receptionist.

Hampshire Against Fluoridation will, this Friday, 26 February, be delivering an Open Letter to the SHA HQ in Newbury at 10am. We are hoping that we are joined by as many people as possible on this aniversary of South Central's Board decison to fluoridate Southamption and south west Hampshire despite 72% of respondents saying NO during the SHA's Consultation in 2008. The handover will be covered by Meridian News and Southampton local newspapers. We would like as many supporters as possible with us in Newbury. If you would like to come and require transport from Hampshire please contact HAF on - 02380 493776. Alternatively, you can make your own way to the SHA—the address and a map of the SHA’s location are given in this flyer and are below too. We aim to arrive by 9.45am and will assemble outside the building. Access to the Business Park is restricted but there is ample parking across the main road in the B&Q car park. New York State Coalition Opposed to Fluoridation, Inc. - News Release November 12, 2009 
State University of New York (SUNY) researchers - found more premature births in fluoridated than non-fluoridated upstate New York communities, according to a presentation made at the American Public Health Association’s annual meeting on November 9, 2009 in Philadelphia. (1) Fluoridation is the addition of fluoride chemicals into public water supplies ostensibly to prevent tooth decay. Many groups oppose fluoridation because of its scientifically-documented health risks. (2) Human pregnancy lasts about 40 weeks or just more than 9 months. A baby born before 37 weeks of pregnancy is considered a preterm (or premature) birth. About 12 percent of US pregnancies are preterm and this is one of the top causes of infant death in the US, according to the US National Institutes of Health. (3) |
